What We Do

Georgian Gables

Today, there are 45 units and 75 tenants – made up of individuals, couples and families. Simcoe County provides support through rent subsidy and the Board has hired Bayshore Property Management to manage the operations and the tenants.

The Board remains dedicated to managing the finances and Bayshore Property Management as well as ensuring the building is cared for with necessary physical repairs/updates, and are consulted monthly on any tenant queries, openings and events. Sharon Goldsworthy, a Collingwood resident, is the current Georgian Gables Board Chair and has been working on the Board for 35 years. Sharon is proud of the rich history and many successes of tenants who have been able to thrive in an affordable building – safely housed in a welcoming environment.

Current statistics of the Georgian Gables tenant make-up in the Summer of 2025:

  • 40% work in the service industry in town
  • 35% are children and youth
  • 25% are seniors many with disabilities

The community is very supportive of Georgian Gables, there are faith groups, school groups and local business who help to provide gift certificates, food and material goods for tenants. The building is close to schools, downtown and on a local bus route. The superintendent providing 9 to 5 office support, meets with tenants and is happy to connect them with local services such as Tracks employment, local health providers, food banks and other key programming for their needs.

Future Plans

The housing crisis has become more critical in recent years. Many residents who work in our community, in organizations and businesses as service and administrative employees, cannot afford to live in town. Families with children and youth cannot manage to live in their current homes, and rentals are few and far between with escalating rental rates.

Collingwood Non Profit Housing (CNPH) knows with our expertise, long history of successful tenant housing and passion, we are well placed to replicate the work we have done, develop solutions and create new affordable housing options.

To realize our ability to develop solutions, we are currently working with Collingwood Housing Initiative (CHI) to explore options and build affordable housing. Jane Truemner and Laurel McCorriston who head up CHI, with the support of the Town of Collingwood’s seed funding, met with us in the winter of 2025. Jane and Laurel come to us with a combined fifty years of experience in affordable housing capital development, housing and property management and fundraising in both Toronto and Nunavut.

Together, we are working towards strengthening CNPH and developing affordable housing goals that we can both work toward.
